Tom Girardi, the estranged husband of Erika Jayne, has been placed under a permanent conservatorship.
On Thursday (June 10), the 82-year-old lawyer appeared at a hearing in the Los Angeles Superior Court where his brother, Robert, was officially made the conservator over Tom‘s person and estate.
After the judge made his decision, Tom released a statement about the situation.

A new documentary will be exploring Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi‘s marriage and legal issues.
ABC News Originals released the teaser trailer for the upcoming doc, titled The Housewife and The Hustler, which will be released on Hulu on June 14.
The documentary will feature legal experts exploring embezzlement accusations against the 81-year-old lawyer, which all came to light last November shortly after the 49-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star filed for divorce after 21 years of marriage.
“Tom Girardi was L.A. law — so powerful,” one legal expert says in the teaser, as another interviewee adds, “They were just blowing money left and right, but then…”
News clips then start to roll, accusing Tom and Erika of staging their divorce to allegedly embezzle money that was supposed to go to families who lost loved ones in a 2018 Boeing plane crash.
“I think the biggest question is: Did she know?” comedian Heather McDonald questions in the teaser.
According to ABC News, The Housewife and The Hustler will also include voicemail messages, court records, and a never-before-aired deposition tape of Tom.
In the new season of RHOBH, which is currently airing on Wednesday nights on Bravo, Erika‘s marriage and legal woes will be taking center stage.
Erika Girardi allegedly claims that her husband Tom Girardi had multiple affairs during their 21-year marriage.
The 49-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who filed for divorce from the 81-year-old attorney last month, has allegedly claimed infidelity as the reason for their split, People reported Friday (December 18).
“The reason she divorced Tom is because he was cheating on her with multiple women,” a source close to the couple told the outlet, adding that Erika claims “she’s known about his infidelity for years” but “wanted to try and save the marriage.”
“When she was performing her last week on Broadway, he left her high and dry and was frolicking around town instead of supporting her and attending her shows. She realized she would never be a priority to him and that was her breaking point,” the source added.
According to a court complaint obtained by People, several families who lost loved ones in a 2018 Boeing plane crash accused the Girardis of embezzling settlement funds meant to help the families of victims on Lion Air Flight 610, instead using the money to fund their “lavish Beverly Hills lifestyles.” Tom‘s law firm is now being held in civil contempt and had their assets frozen.
“The split was a long time coming. The lawsuit just coincided with her decision to leave him,” they also said.
She is seeking spousal support from Tom and asking that he pay her legal fees. Tom has asked to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Erika, and asked that she pay his legal fees.
Erika Jayne and estranged husband Tom Girardi are being sued for allegedly using their divorce to embezzle money.
According to a complaint filed in an Illinois federal court on Wednesday (December 2), the 49-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and the 81-year-old lawyer are being sued on behalf of several families who lost loved ones in a Boeing plane crash, People reports.
The documents alleged that Erika and Tom embezzled settlement funds meant to help the families of victims of Lion Air Flight 610. The crash took place back in October 2018.
“Tom has resorted to embezzling the proceeds of settlements that should have been directed to his clients — including, as the basis for this Complaint, the widows and orphans who lost loved ones in the tragic crash of Lion Air Flight 610 — in order to continue funding his and Erika’s lavish Beverly Hills lifestyles,” the documents state.
Tom‘s law firm – Girardi & Keese (GK) – is also named in the suit, which claims Tom and his firm “are on the verge of financial collapse and locked in a downward spiral of mounting debts and dwindling funds.”
The lawsuit says that Boeing reached individual settlements with clients represented by Tom and his firm, but alleged that the settlement funds were instead used by Tom and Erika.
“At the heart of this deception is Defendant Girardi and his need to fund outrageous lifestyles for himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Erika Jayne,” the documents state, while also claiming this isn’t Tom‘s first attempt to “hide and divert assets.”
Just last month Erika filed for divorce from Tom after 21 years of marriage. However, the new lawsuit claims the divorce is a “sham” to protect their money.
“While Erika publicly filed for divorce this month, on information and belief, that ‘divorce’ is simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom’s and Erika’s money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm GK,” the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit also discusses the couple’s “lavish lifestyle,” even pointing out Erika reportedly previously saying her “look” costs $40,000 a month.
Erika and Tom have not addressed the lawsuit yet.
It was also just revealed that three of Erika‘s RHOBH co-stars tested positive for COVID-19.
Erika Jayne is filing for divorce after two decades of marriage to husband, lawyer Tom Girardi.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star filed paperwork on Tuesday (November 3) in Los Angeles County Courts, via The Blast.
The couple does not have any children together. Erika has one child from a previous relationship.
A reason for the split has not yet been made public, but Erika issued a statement to E!.
“After much consideration, I have decided to end my marriage to Tom Girardi. This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together. It is my absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserved. I request others to give us that privacy as well.”
