The singer, whose songs have appeared on hit TV shows like Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Grey’s Anatomy, teamed up with acclaimed violinist Lindsey Stirling for the moving track. Lindsey was also one of the co-writers on the song.

Valerie says “Deeper” is a song is about mental health and the pain that comes with watching a loved one struggle with mental illness and addiction. You can download “Deeper” on iTunes here.

“This song is about saying to someone, ‘You can push me away all you want, I will not give up on you,’” she explains. “It’s about standing firm for someone because you know they would do it for you. Most importantly, it’s about knowing that mental health is much like physical health, that those who are affected cannot help it. There is no shame in it, and with the right help and acceptance we can all be happier and healthier.”
