Woody Allen Defends Himself & His Track Record With Actresses

Woody Allen is defending himself.

The 83-year-old director spoke out in an interview with France24 after Scarlett Johansson defended the Rainy Day in New York director in a THR cover story.

“I’ve worked with hundreds of actresses [and] not one of them has ever complained about me, not a single complaint. I’ve worked with, employed women in the top capacity, in every capacity, for years and we’ve always paid them exactly the equal of men. I’ve done everything that the #MeToo movement would love to achieve,” he said.

He also said he doesn’t worry about fallout in Hollywood.

“I couldn’t care less. I’ve never worked in Hollywood. I’ve always worked in New York and it doesn’t matter to me for a second. If tomorrow nobody would finance my films and nobody would finance my theater plays or nobody would publish my books, I’d still get up and write because that’s what I do. So I will always work. What happens to it commercially is another matter.”

Dylan Farrow, who alleged for years that her father Woody sexually abused her when she was a child, spoke out against Scarlett Johansson for defending Woody Allen.

Woody Allen Has No Plans to Retire, Says He'll Probably Die on Set

Woody Allen says he’s never going to retire from making movies.

The 83-year-old director has faced years of controversy after being accused of child molestation by his daughter Dylan Farrow.

“I never think of retiring. It’s not just something that has occurred to me,” Allen said during a press conference in San Sebastian on Tuesday (July 9).

“My philosophy, since I started many years ago in show business, is that no matter what happens is to keep focused on my work,” he added (via Screen Daily). “No matter what happens in my life with my wife, children, current events, politics or illness, I focus on my work and that’s all that really absorbs my time and effort seven days a week. I deal mostly with human relations, people and comedy. So I don’t think of retiring.”

“I’ll probably die in the midst of setting a film shot one day on the set, making a movie,” he said.

Allen is beginning production on a new untitled film, starring Christoph Waltz and Gina Gershon.

Christoph Waltz & Gina Gershon to Star in New Woody Allen Movie

Christoph Waltz and Gina Gershon will star in the next film by Woody Allen.

The 83-year-old director will film the movie, tentatively called WASP2019, beginning in July in Spain, according to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday (June 4).

The movie “centers on a married American couple who plan a trip to the San Sebastian Film Festival, where the wife has an affair with a French director and the husband falls in love with a beautiful Spanish woman from the area.”

This will be Woody‘s follow-up to the still unreleased A Rainy Day in New York, which was dropped by Amazon amid previous allegations of abuse by his daughter, Dylan Farrow.

Alan Alda Explains Why He'd Still Work with Woody Allen

Alan Alda is speaking out about the allegations against filmmaker Woody Allen and why he would still work with the director.

The 82-year-old actor worked with Allen on 1989’s Crimes and Misdemeanors, 1993’s Manhattan Murder Mystery, and 1996′s Everyone Says I Love You.

“I’d work with him again if he wanted me,” Alda told THR. “I’m not qualified to judge him. I don’t know all the facts. I don’t know if he’s guilty or innocent. But you can be uncertain — that’s what I go on. I just don’t have enough information to convince me I shouldn’t work with him. And he’s an enormously talented guy.”

Some of the actors who have expressed regret about working with him include Colin Firth and Mira Sorvino.

Former Actress Claims She Dated Woody Allen When She Was Underage

Christina Engelhardt is alleging that she shared an eight-year relationship with Woody Allen starting when she was 16 years old and he was 41.

The now 59-year-old former actress and model opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about her romance with the now 83-year-old director.

“What made me speak is I thought I could provide a perspective,” she said. “I’m not attacking Woody. This is not ‘bring down this man.’ I’m talking about my love story. This made me who I am. I have no regrets.”

She added that the relationship began when she gave Woody her number at a New York City restaurant in 1976. He reportedly contacted her several days later and invited her to his apartment. They often met up at his penthouse overlooking Central Park.

“The curtains were always drawn,” she shared. “The view must have been spectacular. I wasn’t there for the view.”

Dylan & Ronan Farrow Call Out 'New York Magazine' for Soon-Yi Previn Profile

Dylan Farrow, Ronan Farrow and more family members are hitting back at Woody Allen‘s wife Soon-Yi Previn for her comments regarding Dylan and mother Mia Farrow‘s allegations against the director.

“Thanks to my mother, I grew up in a wonderful home, filled with love, that she created. I have a message for the media and allies of Woody Allen: no one is ‘parading me around as a victim’ – I continue to be an adult woman making a credible allegation unchanged for two decades, backed up by evidence,” Dylan wrote.

“As a brother and son, I’m angry that New York Magazine would participate in this kind of a hit job, written by a longtime admirer and friend of Woody Allen‘s. As a journalist, I’m shocked by the lack of care for the facts, the refusal to include eyewitness testimony that would contradict falsehoods in this pieces, and the failre to print my sister’s responses,” Ronan added.
