Lena Dunham Covers 'Interview' Magazine February 2013

Lena Dunham graces the cover of Interview magazine’s February 2013 issue, out on newsstands on Tuesday (January 15)!

Here’s what the Golden Globe winner had to share:

On her boyfriend: “It’s Jack Antonoff [musician and guitarist for the band Fun]. I know there’s some rule that you’re not supposed to talk about your boyfriend publicly just because it seems like all starlets under the age of 33 have decided not to do that, but if you’re in love with someone great, then I don’t understand why you wouldn’t tell everybody.”

On love: “I mean, I’ve always been a big ‘I love you’– sayer and stuff. But then I worry. Jack once overheard me calling someone else ‘baby bug,’ or some stupid name that I’ve called him before. I was like, ‘What if he now thinks I’m just a big disingenuous piece of crap?’ That kind of thing gives me anxiety because I want everyone I love to know how much I love them.”

On growing up: “I didn’t feel like the other kids got me, but then I was also sort of bored and annoyed by them, so I knew that a large part of it was my problem. I actually had to switch schools because I didn’t have friends.”

um, duh Lena, how about you keep it private so when you split you don’t look like a moron! Most relationships that ‘young starlets’ have don’t last so they are right not to talk about it. Since when is your relationship anything to do with your work anyway? I don’t watch Girls but this woman sounds dumb!

@Deano: i watched one or two episodes a while back and was grossed out by it, it wasnt really the nudity that made me sick it was just the whole weirdness of the show, really not my thing.

she is actually quite intelligent but the level of anxiety that comes out in her interviews is getting irritating,,,,,,she needs to be quiet and let her work speak for her

she’s awesome! and the ”weirdness” of the show is what makes it so succesful!

Girls is a very well written show and Lena is, comparably to all the other writers in Hollywood, very creative and witty with her words. Not that my advice means anything since I’m just another commentator on a blog, but if I would tell her something right now, it would be to be weary of lots of publicity. I know it’s flattering and it’s great for people to know about you and your craft, but now is a crucial time where she needs to decide if she wants to make art, or if she wants to be IN art. A select few have been successful at both – act, write, direct – but by the route she currently is traveling, it seems more like she’s becoming a celebrity and less of a filmmaker. Maybe it’s time to reevaluate her plan before she becomes the Taylor Swift of cinema.

Shes great!

@Belize Belize: I totally agree with this! well said!

now she’s rich she can afford some porcelain veneers.

The “new” Diablo Cody – though Cody’s a better writer with the sense to stay behind the camera.

most overrated person of 2012. Her show is complete crap. I love how you make one silly indie film ” Tiny Furniture” and you explode literally all over pop culture. She is gross, her work is gross, and she doesn’t speak or defend anything interesting to me.

TOTAL FAKE.
How much is she going to make this year- $10 million at least.
Pretty good after using all her parents’ connections!

@Belize Belize: you left out what a racist sack of sh*t she is.

Must be nice to have parents that are well connected, please don’t be naive people.this wannabe hip chick did not get that atrocious show of hers on air because she’s a good writer, mommy and daddy did it for her, that’s what happens when you are a rich Jew.
You are not hip or cool lena Dunham. And that show has the most racially exclusion cast I have ever seen on tv.no black and no Asians allowed.lmfao
There are far better writers out there who deserve to have their show on tv more than this annoying person but hey they don’t have mommy and daddy buying out the right people.that show could have been written by most 20 something whether they were like the characters or not!nothing innovative here! Stop giving her so much credit for doing so little! As the saying goes, the rich keep getting richer with more opportunities and the poor get poorer with none smdh
Go away and stop trying to convince the world that you are cool and intelligent, you aren’t fooling anyone or me at least.but it seems that you have worked your magic on the just jarred readers lol smh

@hm..:

Enlighten us – what has she said and done that is racist. You seem to feel pretty strongly about this, so you must have substantial evidence.

@Deano: I disagree, Deano. I think she is doing herself a favor and that’s a very healthy attitude to have for herself and her relationship. Loving and breaking up are natural things. If they ever break up, even if they are celebrities, it’ll still be a normal thing. Unless one of them gets caught cheating inside a mini-cooper on a hidden street of LA…Scandals just won’t do, as other “starlets” have learn the hard way. But Lena is clearly not one of those people. She should be OK.

Also, I know I’m just going to be labeled as someone coming to her defense, but to call Lena Dunham racist and not call the rest of Hollywood racist is a rather unfair simplification. Most films and shows do not have diverse casting. The TV show ‘Girls’ is not an exception. This is reality.
