    Bassey was MAGNIFICENT!
There’s a reason she’s the only singer to do THREE Bond themes…and should have done SkyFall!

Goldfinger was a huge hit in 1964 – worldwide. Last night she sounded just like she did in 1964. Wow. Wish Dame Bassey wasn’t such a well kept secret. They adore her in Great Britain.

That was ridiculous, incredible, amazing, revelatory. Bassey reminded us why she’s Bassey, why we love Bond, why we go to the movies. That was one for the record books – a 76 year old woman sings a 50 year old song and walks away with the show!!!!!

It brought tears to my eyes .Just the day before this song came on the radio and as always I turn it up–she’s still got it!

It was remarkable that the audience, all stars in their own right, saw a performance that none of them could ever duplicate , let alone at 76 and let alone live. The woman is so utterly outstanding that they rose as one in complete adulation. Not fawning, just simple awe and absolute respect. She is a legend. The moves, the raw sexuality, the hint of sinister eyes flashing with cold and brittle passion, she conveyed it all. And the final flick of the hands as if to say, how easy was that? Pity no one else can do it. Certainly not Barbra, who should retire, and certainly not Adele who needed 40 backing vocalists and could not hit the big high notes. Dame Shirley showed everyone what a star was, and they all knew it.
