Selena Gomez to Produce '13 Reasons Why' Series for Netflix

Selena Gomez is teaming up with Netflix!

According to Variety, the 23-year-old singer and actress is in final negotiations to adapt the best-selling young adult book “13 Reasons Why” into a 13-episode miniseries for the streaming service.

It will be based on the 2007 novel by Jay Asher, which follows a boy named Clay Jensen who returns home from school to find a mysterious box with cassette tapes inside recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush, who committed suicide two weeks earlier. She explains thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life and Clay is one of them.

Selena read the book and decided to buy the rights to a screen adaptation with her mom Mandy Teefey and producer Kristel Laiblin. All three will serve as executive producers.
