On the premiere of Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted on Sunday (July 21), the celebrity chef traveled to Peru and ate guinea pig.
To elaborate on eating the animal that is not eaten in the United States, Gordon Ramsay said, “I can’t feature roasted guinea pig on my menus here in the US. I would be taken down. You do not know what you’re missing. I am telling you now, delicious.”
It is not uncommon to eat guinea pig in areas in Peru, but some viewers did not like seeing images of thee animal cooked and eaten on the episode.
“I realize people eat different things all over the world, they have to due to region, economics, etc. But being a guinea pig owner and lover I can’t watch Gordon Ramsey’s new show. 😢 those poor sweet pigs,” one user wrote.
Another wrote, “I think it’s sad that they cook and eat guinea pigs in Peru..#Heartbroken”
