Here's What Tonya Harding Texted to Allison Janney After Her Oscar Nomination for 'I, Tonya'!

Allison Janney was nominated for a 2018 Academy Award for her work in I, Tonya today, and she’s spilling details about what the real Tonya Harding texted her after learning the news!

“I got a lovely text from her this morning congratulating me saying, ‘You’re going to the big top, girl!’ Which was very sweet of her,” Allison told People. Allison plays Tonya’s mother, LaVona, in the film.

“First of all, I was in bed last night at 9 p.m. to try to get a good night’s sleep, which is just a joke – I didn’t sleep one wink. At 5 a.m. my bedroom door flew open and six people came jumping into my bed. I was floored, I had all these people who flew in from New York to be with me. It was just the most special morning to get up and watch the announcement with dear friends and family,” Allison added. Congrats!

Tonya Harding Has No Interest In Hearing the Song Sufjan Stevens Wrote About Her!

Tonya Harding is not interested in the Sufjan Stevens song that he wrote in her honor.

The 47-year-old retired ice skater and subject of I, Tonya unveiled her lack of interest in a New York Times profile published on January 10.

“Who gives these people permission to use my name? You all disrespected me and it hurt. I’m a human being and it hurt my heart,” she said.

Sufjan, who wrote the song in her honor as an ode, responded on his official Tumblr.

“The world is abundant and strange. The New York Times interviewed Tonya for a recent long-form feature (spoilers: Tonya is not interested in hearing my song!), and The Believer has a great think-piece on Tonya and the complicated world of women’s figure skating. Riveting journalism. Enjoy! Take two Aleve® and keep it moving!”

Sufjan‘s song was submitted for consideration for I, Tonya, but was rejected by music supervisors. Listen now if you haven’t already!

Here's What Nancy Kerrigan Said When Asked If She's Seen 'I, Tonya'

Nancy Kerrigan gave an interview with the Boston Globe and during it, was asked if she’d seen I, Tonya.

“I’ve been busy. I was at the national [figure skating] championships this week so I didn’t watch the Golden Globes. I haven’t seen the movie. I’m just busy living my life,” the 48-year-old figure skater told the Boston Globe this past week. “I was the victim. Like, that’s my role in this whole thing. That’s it.”

In the film, Tonya is seen as the victim, to which Nancy responded, “At this point, it’s so much easier and better to just be … it’s not really part of my life.”

If you don’t know, I, Tonya is about Tonya Harding and the events leading up to Nancy‘s injury. Tonya was in attendance at the Golden Globes with Margot Robbie, who portrays her in the movie.

“I am so over the glamorization of a villain simply because she was born on the ‘wrong side of the tracks,’” he wrote.

“While her upbringing may have been tragic, athletes come from all walks of life and succeed based on merit, not assault. I won’t applaud her and I stand for Nancy [Kerrigan],” he wrote.

Tonya Harding Threatens to Walk Out on Piers Morgan Interview

Things didn’t exactly go smoothly during Tonya Harding‘s interview with Piers Morgan.

While appearing on Good Morning Britain to promote the new film based on her life I, Tonya on Tuesday (January 9), the 47-year old former figure skater threatened to end her interview after the 52-year-old host accused of her calling herself a victim.

“Maybe it suits you to play the victim,” Piers said, “but I think the victim in all of this wasn’t you. It was Nancy Kerrigan who had her Olympic dream shattered quite literally in her legs.”

Tonya responded by saying, “Thank you so much. I appreciate being on your show, but I think I’m going to have to say have a good night.”

After Piers questioned her decision to leave, Tonya slammed the host for not letting her finish what she was saying.

“Yes, she was,” Tonya continued. “But you also have to realize that there’s a lot of things going on. People don’t seem to understand what I was going through, so that’s why I decided to do this movie.”

Tonya then went on to say that she “did not know anything” prior to the attack.

Margot Robbie Opens Up About Dangers of Fame & Needing Security

Margot Robbie and Tonya Harding pose together on the cover of THR‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the 27-year-old I, Tonya star had to share with the mag:

Margot, on being asked if she was ever molested during a press conference: “I was shocked by the indifference to which this man asked, like it was such a casual question and that’s part of the problem, too. No one’s ever abused their power with me within this industry, but I am a woman in the world and I have seen and dealt with this a million times in the world.’”

Margot, on needing security: “There’s just all this stuff you learn along the way, like, when you get those death threats, it’s [smart] to have a security team do a background check on whoever sent them to see if there is any past history of violence because you’ll need to know whether you need security to go to certain events. And every time you do a background check, it’s going to cost $2,000, so take that into consideration when you’re getting yourself into this.’”

Margot, on being offered “hot wife” roles: “You could read a script and almost pull them out and nothing else would be affected. Like if you pulled out that card, the card castle wouldn’t come tumbling down, and that’s not that exciting to me.’”
