'The Purge' Tops Weekend Box Office Over 'The Internship'
The Purge is first at this weekend’s box office with a whopping $36.4 million!
The horror flick, starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey, far surpassed its $20 million opening expectations, according to THR.
Fast & Furious 6 held strong in second with a $19.8 million gross in its third weekend.
Taking the number three spot was Now You See Me, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco, with $19.5 million.
Rounding out the top five were The Internship, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and the animated film Epic, bringing in $18.1 million and $12.1 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Star Trek Into Darkness jumped the $200 million mark in North America, grossing $11.7 million in its fourth week, as Joss Whedon‘s Much Ado About Nothing opened to a limited release gross of $183,400.
