Abigail Spencer Talks Origin of Name Amantha on 'Rectify'

Abigail Spencer wears two outfits while making an appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday (July 29) in Hollywood.

The 32-year-old actress was asked about the name of her character Amantha on the show Rectify and if the creators intentionally left off the “S” from Samantha.

“So here’s the story. Ray McKinnon, our creator of the show, he has a family friend who has a daughter named Amantha and that’s where the inspiration is. But, the joke is like, ‘That birth certificate… someone was celebrating a little bit too hard and missed.’ It’s like Amanda or Samantha? Whatever, just put it in, we’re not sure,” Abigail said.
