Kesha Denied Release from Her Contract with Dr. Luke
Kesha looks solemn while leaving the New York Supreme Court following her defeat on Friday (February 19) in New York City.
The 28-year-old singer tried to get released from her Sony recording contract with producer Dr. Luke as she alleges that he has sexually abused her over the years.
Judge Shirley Kornreich denied the request.
“You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” the judge said. She stated that Dr. Luke has invested $60 million into Kesha‘s career so it is “the commercially reasonable thing” to keep the contract going.
Kesha‘s fans were outside the courthouse for the #FreeKesha protest.
