A&E Gives New Title to KKK Docu-Series After Backlash

A&E has given a new name to its upcoming KKK docu-series after it received backlash due to confusion with the content of the show.

The title has been changed from Generation KKK to Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America.

A&E has also partnered with Color of Change, a civil-rights group that will help produce segments to provide context for the series. The series will give an inside look at families involved with the KKK and how some members have tried to free themselves from the hate group.

“This what happens behind the scenes and how hate groups evolve and continue,” an A&E exec told Variety. “That was really the focus of the entire series.”

Ellen Pompeo is one of many people who criticized the network for the series and encouraged followers to boycott A&E.
