Analyzing Miley Cyrus' 'Slide Away' Lyrics About Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus just dropped her new song “Slide Away” and everyone has pretty much come to the conclusion that she’s singing about her ex Liam Hemsworth.
Just days ago, Miley and Liam announced that they are separating after less than a year of marriage. They’ve been together for over nine years, on and off.
So, what lyrics seem to be about Liam? Let’s analyze:
“I want my house in the hills, Don’t want the whiskey and pills.”
- Miley might be saying that she wants to move back to the hills and leave Malibu behind. There have also been rumors that she was fed up with Liam‘s alleged partying. A source close to her said that he was “drinking a lot and using certain drugs.”
“So won’t you slide away, Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights.”
- Liam spends a ton of time at the beach and loves to surf. He is from Australia, where his family is always seen spending time in the ocean. (He was even seen surfing this week!) Miley grew up with the city lights.
“Move on, we’re not seventeen, I’m not who I used to be, You say that everything’s changed, You’re right, we’re grown now.”
- Miley met Liam when she was 17 on the set of their movie The Last Song. They have grown a lot in the past nine years and are clearly different people now.
