Mayim Bialik's Rep Issues New Statement & Clears Up Her Past Comments About Vaccines

Mayim Bialik was just announced as one of the new host of Jeopardy!, and almost instantly, Jeopardy! fans brought up her past comments about vaccines.

The 45-year-old actress and scientist was being labeled an anti-vaxxer after she mentioned in her 2012 book, “Beyond the Sling” that she had not gotten a vaccine in 30 years.

Last year, Mayim also clarified her stance on vaccines in a YouTube video where she publicly stated that she and her children have the proper shots.

In the video that came out in October of last year, Mayim opened up about how she does still have questions about the efficacy of vaccines and noted that they’re “never 100% effective.”

But this did not derail her in getting the COVID-19 vaccine at all.

“This year I’m going to do something I literally haven’t done in 30 years. I’m going to get a vaccine. And guess what? I’m actually going to get two,” she stated. “You might be saying, ‘Hey, wait a second, you don’t believe in vaccines! You’re one of those anti-vaxxers.”

Mayim then explained, “I wrote a book about 10 years ago about my experience parenting and at the time my children had not received the typical schedule of vaccines. But I have never, not once, said that vaccines are not valuable, not useful, or not necessary because they are.”

“The truth is, I delayed vaccinations for reasons that you don’t necessarily get to know about simply because you follow me on social media,” she added. “As of today, my children may not have had every one of the vaccinations that your children have but my children are vaccinated. I repeat, my children are vaccinated.”

In a new statement, Mayim‘s rep told The Wrap that she “has been fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus and is not at all an anti-vaxxer.”
