Peacock Cancels 'Punky Brewster' Revival Series After Just One Season

The Punky Brewster sequel series, starring Soleil Moon Frye in her iconic role, has been canceled by Peacock after just one season.

The full 10-episode first season debuted on the streaming service on February 25 and it sadly didn’t attract that much attention.

THR reports that Soleil wanted to do additional seasons of the series, but Peacock made the decision to cancel the show.

“Punky Brewster was a beloved series that tackled meaningful storylines with so much heart,” NBCUniversal Television and Streaming’s president of scripted TV, Lisa Katz, said in a statement. “It was a bright light for so many viewers and we are forever grateful to Universal Studio Group, the producers, the cast and crew and especially to Soleil Moon Frye for reigniting the Punky Power within everyone.”
