Emily VanCamp Is Exiting 'The Resident' After Four Seasons

Shocking news: Emily VanCamp is leaving The Resident after four seasons.

The 35-year-old actress has played the role of Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevin on the Fox drama for all four seasons on the show and is considered the female lead opposite Matt Czuchry.

Fans feared the worst for Emily‘s character at the end of last season, when she was stabbed.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Emily asked to be released from the show at the end of last season. There was an effort to get her to come back for season five, which she was apparently open to doing. It did not end up working out.

The site reports that she could come back as a guest-star later.
