Netflix Reveals Possibilities About A Second Season of 'Squid Game'

Squid Game has proven itself to be a massive hit on Netflix, which they weren’t expecting.

After just releasing a single trailer for United States subscribers, the series got a massive boost from TikTok, Twitter and through word of mouth.

“We could not imagine that it would be this big globally,” Netflix’s global TV head Bela Bajaria told Vulture in an interview about the show. “We always knew it was going to be a signature title for Korea, but there’s no way to have anticipated it would be this big.”

As for a second season, Bela shared that “nothing firm has been decided about a second season” quite yet.

She added that it all depends on [creator Hwang Dong-hyuk’s] schedule and his desires for how to proceed.

“He has a film and other things he’s working on,” she says. “We’re trying to figure out the right structure for him.

Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo and Wi Ha-joon star in the show, which centers on 456 desperate contestants that compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival game involving multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion won prize money that can pull them out of their misery.

Just last week, it was revealed the Squid Game is on track to be the biggest Netflix show ever.
