Maggie explained to People that it was Dakota who reached out about the part first.
“I was like, ‘Huh, that’s actually kind of the most brilliant idea. And I love her in the movie,” Maggie shared.
She also recalled her lunch meeting she had with her, saying to Dakota that “‘I wanna go to the bottom of the ocean — will you take me?’”
“We just immediately went down to the deepest way of talking to each other after like five minutes,” Maggie shared. She then added of Dakota, “I just have never seen her do anything like this, and I’m so glad that she found me.”
The Lost Daughter, also starring Olivia Colman, is out in theaters and streaming on Netflix now.
