Matthew Perry Says You Can Tell What He Was Addicted to Based on His Weight

Matthew Perry reveals in his new memoir that you can observe his fluctuating weight during different seasons of Friends and can tell what he was addicted to at the time.

The 53-year-old actor writes, “You can track the trajectory for my addiction if you gauge my weight from season to season. When I’m carrying weight, it’s alcohol; when I’m skinny, it’s pills. When I have a goatee, it’s lots of pills.”

He added that throughout filming he was “between 128 pounds and 225 pounds.” He noted that his opioid addiction caused him to be very thin as the drugs suppressed his appetite and caused vomiting.

Matthew said that by the end of the third season of Friends he was trying to take 55 Vicodin a day.

Matthew Perry recently clarified statements he made in his book about Keanu Reeves. He also shared how much money he has spent trying to get sober over the years.
