Anne Heche's Autopsy Results Revealed, New Details Confirmed About Her Tragic Death

New details have been released about the tragic death of Anne Heche.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has released the results of Anne‘s autopsy, more than four months after she was involved in a car crash that led to her death.

Anne was taken off of life support on August 14, two days after she was declared brain dead at the age of 53. She died from inhalation of smoke and thermal injuries obtained in her car accident, according to the coroner’s office.

The autopsy revealed that Anne was not impaired by drugs when her car accident happened, but she did have cocaine and cannabis in her system from previous use.

“The hospital admission blood showed the presence of benzoylecgonine, the inactive metabolite of cocaine, which means she used in the past but not at the time of the crash,” a spokesperson for the coroner’s office told People.

Anne had traces of cocaine, cannabinoids, and benzodiazepines in her urine, but her blood sample. The coroner says this is “consistent with prior use but not at the time of injury.”

Fentanyl was found in Anne‘s system, but the report says it was “obtained after she received treatment at the hospital and therefore is consistent with therapeutic use. This is supported by the lack of fentanyl in the blood specimen drawn at admission to the hospital.”

The report also revealed that Anne‘s burns led to her “anoxic brain injury” because oxygen could not be absorbed by her body.

There has been drama with Anne‘s estate in recent months.
