Taylor Swift Announces New Rule for Surprise Songs on 'Eras Tour'

Taylor Swift has been performing two surprise songs at ever show on her Eras Tour and she has added a new rule to the table.

The 33-year-old singer previously announced that she would only repeat a song on the tour if she messed it up while performing it for the first time.

Taylor already said that she will have to perform “Death by a Thousand Cuts” a second time since she messed up the bridge and she will perform “Clean” again since she felt she could do it in a different key.

Now, Taylor has a new rule that will allow herself to perform certain songs as many times as she wants during the acoustic portion of the night.

During night two of her Tampa run, Taylor played two songs from her new album Midnights - “The Great War” with special guest Aaron Desner and “You’re On Your Own, Kid.”

She told the crowd, “Basically when I started the tour, I said, ‘In the acoustic section, I am never repeating a song. I’m never doing songs more than once.’ But now I’m like, ‘Ugh, there are so many songs I want to do more than once.’”

“So, I’m making a little caveat to the rule, which is that if [a song] is on Midnights, I can do it however many times I want because Midnights is, like, the most accurate picture of my life to date,” Taylor added.
