Chris Evans Competed With 10 Actors to Play Captain America, Including 1 Who Apologized to Marvel After Auditioning
John Krasinski
John Krasinski made a brief MCU debut in 2022’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. He played another famous hero – Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. He could have made his debut years earlier as Captain America. However, he blamed another famous Chris for ruining for him – Chris Hemsworth.
In 2016, he explained that he auditioned for the part and even suited up as Cap. However, he lost his confidence after seeing Hemsworth in costume as Thor.
Years later, he confirmed that there were no hard feelings for Chris Evans. “Well, I know I wouldn’t have done it as well as Chris,” he said. “At least I get to see someone good do the role. I’ve actually talked to Chris about it.”
Additionally, the loss made it so that he could focus on directing and writing, which led to A Quiet Place. Everyone’s a winner there!
