Why ‘Matlock’ & ‘Elsbeth’ Aren’t Airing New Episodes for 2 Weeks
CBS’ Thursday evening TV shows are on a hiatus for 2 weeks, and this includes Matlock and Elsbeth.
The Kathy Bates and Carrie Preston-starrers won’t air tonight (March 20) or next Thursday (March 27), and repeats won’t even be shown.
We’re explaining what’s going on, and when the shows will be back on the air.

The reason for the hiatus? It’s March Madness! Tonight (March 20), the 2025 NCAA Basketball Tournament is being aired instead of all the CBS programming. The same situation is happening next Thursday, so it will be 2 more weeks until new episodes debut.
Matlock and Elsbeth won’t be back with new episodes until Thursday, April 3.
Unfortunately, 3 CBS TV shows have been canceled in 2025 so far – and it’s three fan faves! Some massive hits were also renewed, thankfully!
Stay tuned as we learn more!
