Uber is partnering with Lucid, an electric car producer, and the startup Nuro, an autonomous car company, to deploy driverless cars.

The companies plan to launch the robotaxis in a major U.S. urban hub sometime in 2026.
Lucid’s stock went up 30% upon the announcement, while Uber’s shares were “marginally higher,” according to the report.
Nuro will provide “level 4 self-driving system” software for the cars, which can drive passengers under normal traffic and weather conditions without a human behind the wheel.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Nuro and Lucid on this new robotaxi program, purpose-built just for the Uber platform, to safely bring the magic of autonomous driving to more people across the world,” said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi in a statement, via CNBC.
If you missed it, there’s also a new second-richest person in the world.
