Taylor Swift Fans Think She Teased ‘Debut (Taylor’s Version)’ at the Emmys – All the Easter Eggs & Theories Explained
There was a “Teardrops on My Guitar” clue hiding on the board
The evidence boards themselves contained plenty for Swifties to investigate.
Fans noticed what appeared to be a reference to “Teardrops on My Guitar,” one of the best-known singles from Taylor‘s debut album.
Page Six also noted that the board included sticky notes referencing both “Teardrops on My Guitar” and “Delicate.” The latter song appeared on reputation, adding even more fuel to theories that both unreleased Taylor‘s Version albums were represented in the sketch.
A clock might contain another date clue
Fans also noticed that a clock included in the sketch was set to 10:13.
One interpretation is that it could represent October 13, while 13 is famously Taylor‘s lucky number.
Whether that date actually means anything remains to be seen.
The biggest clue might be “Is it TV?”
Perhaps one of the most blatant clues was a sticky note visible on one of the evidence boards that read, “Is it TV?”
Within the context of the sketch, “TV” obviously means television.
To Swifties, however, TV is also the common abbreviation for “Taylor‘s Version.”
That has only strengthened the theory that the entire sketch was designed to tease another re-recording.
“Hiding in plain sight” might be another Easter egg
Even Taylor’s introduction to the clues has attracted attention.
She specifically said the answer was “hiding in plain sight,” a phrase that appears in her Midnights song “Dear Reader.”
Fans have naturally wondered if that choice of words was deliberate, although theories attempting to extract dates or additional clues from the song are much more speculative.
The timing would make sense for Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)
There’s another major reason fans are particularly convinced this is about her debut album.
The original Taylor Swift album celebrates its 20th anniversary on October 24, 2026, a milestone that has already fueled speculation about when Taylor could revisit her debut era.
Some fans have even interpreted “north or south” as an instruction to look toward the opposite of Aries season. The opposite zodiac sign of Aries is Libra, and Libra season runs from late September through late October, conveniently landing around the album’s 20th anniversary.
Of course, Taylor hasn’t confirmed that she’s planning to release Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) or revisit reputation with its unreleased Vault tracks, or that the clues in the Emmys sketch are actually pointing toward either album.
But given that the entire sketch was built around Swifties’ obsession with decoding Easter eggs, fans certainly have plenty to investigate.
