1. Resident Evil (2002)

The first Resident Evil released in 2002 and introduced us to Milla Jovovich as Alice, an original character for the films, with the first one directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. He would go on to write and direct several other films in the series.

This movie marks the beginning of Alice’s six-film journey and introduces the actual outbreak along with the villainous Umbrella Corporation. Michelle Rodriguez also stars. The corporate threat established here follows in the next five films. While it has the same name as the 2026 film, this Resident Evil takes place in a totally different continuity.

Resident Evil isn’t available to stream with a subscription right now, but is available to rent and buy from digital storefronts like Amazon and Apple.

2. Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)

In Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), the T-virus outbreak expands into Raccoon City. Milla returns as Alice and this movie also introduces a video game character, Jill Valentine, played by Sienna Guillory. Nemesis is also featured in this movie, a prominent antagonist from the games.

It is the second installment in Alice’s continuity and follows the events of the first movie after Alice escapes from the underground facility. She works together with other survivors to try and escape the outbreak of zombies.
