Ben Affleck shows off his prize in the press room at the 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards held in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on Saturday (February 2) in Los Angeles.

The 40-year-old actor beat out Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee, Kathryn Bigelow, and Tom Hooper for the honor despite the fact he was snubbed of an Oscar nomination.

“I don’t think this makes me a real director, but I think I am on my way,” Ben said during his acceptance speech.

Earlier in the evening, Ben, in a Gucci tux, and his wife Jennifer Garner walked the red carpet separately.

Anne Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman attend the cocktail reception at the 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards held in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on Saturday (February 2) in Los Angeles.

The 30-year-old actress joined her Les Miserables co-star Hugh Jackman to support their director Tom Hooper, who is nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film.

Tom is up against Argo‘s Ben Affleck, Life of Pi‘s Ang Lee, Lincoln‘s Steven Spielberg, and Zero Dark Thirty‘s Kathryn Bigelow.

Earlier in the day, Anne wore a scarf over her face while walking her dog Esmeralda on an afternoon stroll with Adam.

Lena Dunham hits the red carpet at the 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards held in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on Saturday (February 2) in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old entertainer picked up the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for the Girls pilot. She beat out several directors, including Bryan Cranston for his work on an episode of Modern Family.

During her speech, Lena said “Steven Spielberg I am coming for you; Ben Affleck, I already came for you.” Looks like Ben‘s okay with that since the pair were super friendly on the red carpet – see below!

Berenice Bejo, Quvenzhane Wallis, and Helen Hunt hit the red carpet at the 2013 Directors Guild of America Awards held in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on Saturday (February 2) in Los Angeles.

The ladies were joined by Berenice‘s hubby Michel Hazanavicius, who picked up last year’s DGA Award for The Artist, Glee‘s Jane Lynch, and Taken 2‘s Famke Janssen.

Quvenzhane‘s Beasts of the Southern Wild director Benh Zeitlin was not nominated for a DGA Award, but he was still nominated for the Oscar!
