Kanye West‘s rep has released a statement to respond to the backlash over his bleeped out performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards this past weekend.

The 37-year-old appear was censored for nearly half of the “All Day” and “Black Skinhead” performance and it was also difficult to see him due to poor lighting.

“Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards,” the statement reads (via Billboard). “Non-profane lyrics such as ‘with my leather black jeans on’ were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented.”

“It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against,” the statement continues. “Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.”

The night before, the 21-year-old One Direction singer was spotted heading back to L.A. after the 2015 Billboard Music Awards while his bandmates Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson hung out with Harry‘s ex Taylor Swift, along with her new boyfriend Calvin Harris, her brother Austin, and their mutual friend Ed Sheeran.

“Last night was a wild ride #DoneWithCollege,” Austin captioned a photobooth pic of the group.

Niall was later seen taking some fan selfies while flying out of McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

Taylor Swift threw an epic party after winning big at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday evening (May 17) in Las Vegas.

The 25-year-old entertainer was seen surrounded by pals in the party’s photo booth. Rumored boyfriend Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, some Fifth Harmony gals, and more were seen partying together.

The photos were found on Adrien Grenier‘s Instagram and fan Tumblr accounts – and one Tumblr user even pointed out that Taylor and Calvin (aka #Tayvin) may have shared a really cute kiss in the photo booth!

Ellen Pompeo hits the stage to present an award at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (May 17) in Las Vegas.

The 45-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress was there to support Taylor Swift as she appears in the brand new “Bad Blood” music video alongside a ton of other stars.

Ellen appeared on stage with Taylor to debut the video and then presented the singer one of her eight awards during the night.

Another presenter seen at the show was former Dancing With the Stars contestant Danica McKellar.

Molly Sims celebrated the event from Los Angeles as she hosted the Samsung Home Appliances live viewing party at a rooftop event.

“Now can I be in Taylor‘s club?” Molly said during her intro, making reference to her being part of the coolest club thirty years earlier. Later, the two were seen posing for photos and dancing during the performance. It looks like Molly could be the latest Taylor BFF!
