Hayley Atwell‘s Peggy Carter made a glorious comeback in 2022′s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness only to be killed off within minutes of returning to the screen.

The 41-year-old actress, who first portrayed the character in 2011′s Captain America: The First Avenger, opened up about her brief return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a recent interview.

She didn’t pull any punches when it came time to reveal her thoughts on being decimated by Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch, either.

ABC has announced the fate of more of its series and sadly some favorites have been canceled.

Marvel’s Agent Carter has been canceled after two seasons while freshman drama series The Family has been canceled after one season.

While fans of Hayley Atwell might be upset that she will not return in the Marvel series, her new drama Convinction has been given a series order so she will be back on the network!

Shows that have been renewed include Shondaland’s The Catch, the comedy The Real O’Neals, and the drama series American Crime.

It was also announced that Shonda Rhimes‘ new Romeo and Juliet sequel series Still-Star Crossed has been given a series order. The series picks up where the classic Shakespeare tragedy left off.

It was also announced today that Nashville has been canceled after four seasons on the air.

Hayley Atwell is surrounded by her co-stars while attending the Disney & ABC Television Group’s TCA Winter Press Tour party on Thursday evening (January 15) in Pasadena, Calif.

The Agent Carter star was joined by co-stars Chad Michael Murray, Dominic Cooper, Lyndsy Fonseca, James D’Arcy, and Enver Gjokaj.

Even though the new Marvel series has received strong reviews, the initial ratings haven’t been that great.

“We feel very optimistic about it,” ABC entertainment president Paul Lee said during the show’s panel earlier that day.

“SHIELD is actually a great and powerful show for us, [it's 18-49 demo rating with seven days of DVR playback playback] pops up to a 3.0, it brings in a male audience for us and it’s creatively really strong now,” he added. “We left a great cliffhanger at the end of Christmas and now it’s going to come back with some fantastic storylines. And to have Agent Carter in the [SHIELD hiatus] gap doing sort of double what we were doing there last year is great for us.”

According to THR, the show averaged a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.2 million viewers, which was in keeping with the debut of its sister show Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in 2013.

Hayley Atwell keeps it flashy white while attending the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter Screening during the 2013 Comic-Con on Friday (July 19) in San Diego, Calif.

“Thanks to everyone who came down to see Peggy Carter’s Marcel One Shot. Glad you guys and gals liked it! xxx,” the 31-year-old English actress tweeted later in the day.

The short “takes place a year after Captain America: The First Avenger. Peggy (Atwell) is once again working with the group that will become S.H.I.E.L.D., the S.S.R. (Strategic Scientific Reserve), only things are far less exciting for her now. The war is over, and she’s stuck in a desk job in New York, banging her head against the glass ceiling of spy-dom and fighting with her close-minded boss (Bradley Whitford). Until happenstance leads her on a mission to track down the mysterious Zodiac.”
