John Altobelli, his daughter Alyssa Altobelli and wife Keri Altobelli were all on board the helicopter that crashed on Sunday (January 26) in Calabasas, California. The helicopter was also carrying Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
Gianna and Alyssa were teammates at the Mamba Academy and were flying to Thousand Oaks to attend a game.
John was a baseball coach at Orange Coast College and his brother, Tony, confirmed the family’s deaths to CNN.
In addition, Orange Coast College assistant coach Ron La Ruffa revealed to CNN that the families often flew to the games together via the helicopter.
“It was something John routinely did, flying up with Kobe to attend games with his daughter,” Ron told CNN.
