A&E’s Bates Motel wrapped up its five-season run with the episode “The Cord” last night (April 24), and now star Freddie Highmore is opening up about the epic finale.

SPOILER: “I think it was a beautifully written end to the show. I think (showrunners) Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse were so smart to refer back to the pilot and bring things full circle,” the 25-year-old actor revealed (via Variety). “It felt very satisfying and hopefully and a little heartbreaking, too. Tucker (Gates) our main director deserves so much credit. He brought so much creatively and stylistically to the show from the very beginning.”

“I don’t know whether it’s a happy end or a sad end,” Freddie added. “In some ways, it does feel like the fitting end to a love story between Norma and Norman. They couldn’t be in life but they finally are in death. I just hope that whatever I do next people will care about it as much as they do with Bates Motel. I think that’s what’s made it the most special experience was that everyone was fully committed. They were invested in it. They wanted to be there. It was a unique show.”

Rihanna‘s Bates Motel shower scene didn’t end the way you’d expect!

The 28-year-old entertainer’s final episode on the A&E series aired last night. She’s been playing the role of Marion in the show, a role made famous by Janet Leigh in the original Psycho.

While we do see Rihanna showering and Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) spying on her, she ends up surviving! “Screw this sh*t!,” she says in the scene while stepping out of the shower. She then goes to track down her boyfriend Sam (Austin Nichols), and finds out he’s been cheating on her. She then flees the scene. So, there you have it! Rihanna‘s character survived and wasn’t stabbed to death, as many thought she would be. Austin‘s character ends up being killed by Norman instead.

Rihanna will be making her first appearance on Bates Motel as Marion Crane in the episode airing tonight (March 20) in A&E!

The 29-year-old entertainer is playing the role made famous by Janet Leigh in the movie Psycho. The character is famously killed by Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) in a shower.

On the fifth and final season of the A&E series, which shows Norman growing up into the killer seen in Psycho, Marion is having an affair with the husband (Austin Nichols) of a woman Norman befriends in town.

During the most recent episode, Norman had a passionate kiss with the woman, but stopped it after he started to black out. It’s likely that Marion is about to show up at the Bates Motel looking to rent a room and we’re pretty sure Austin‘s character Sam will show up too!

The fifth and final season of Bates Motel premieres tonight and the highly anticipated appearance by Rihanna as Marion Crane will be featured this year!

The show’s executive producer Kerry Ehrin says that there will be references to Psycho “through the lens of Bates Motel” this season.

“Bread crumbs are starting to be laid out in the first episode that will eventually lead to Marion Crane … People who know Psycho will enjoy it but (the season) stands on its own as a really good story,” Ehrin told USA Today.

Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga, whose character was killed off the show at the end of the fourth season, both will return for the new episodes.

The first look at Rihanna as the classic character Marion Crane in the upcoming season of Bates Motel has been revealed in the season five trailer!

The 28-year-old entertainer is set to guest star in the final season of the A&E series and she gets one line in the new teaser. “Can I get a room?” she is seen asking Norman Bates, played by Freddie Highmore.

Bates Motel is a Psycho prequel series and Marion Crane is stabbed to death in the shower of her room by Norman, dressed like his mother Norma.

Rihanna is set to play the role of Marion Crane (yep, the woman in the shower in Psycho) for the upcoming season of Bates Motel and she just started work on the show!

The 28-year-old entertainer was spotted on set filming her first scenes on Tuesday (November 15) in Vancouver, Canada.

Also spotted on set was Nestor Carbonell, who stars on the series as Sheriff Alex Romero and is directing the episode. He previously opened up about seem details on what to expect from the episode.

It looks like Rihanna is focusing on her acting career right now as she is also in the middle of filming a role in the upcoming movie Ocean’s Eight.

Nestor Carbonell just revealed that he will be directing Rihanna on her highly anticipated episode of Bates Motel!

The 28-year-old entertainer will be playing the role of Marion Crane, who was portrayed by Janet Leigh in the horror classic Psycho.

Nestor, who plays the role of Sheriff Alex Romero on the hit A&E series, was asked by TMZ if he has any scenes with Rihanna.

“I don’t want to give it all up, you know? But I know we’re really excited. She’s coming soon. I am going to get to direct her, which I’m really looking forward to,” Nestor said. “I’m going to work with her for sure… I haven’t gotten the script yet.”
