Chris Soules has broken his silence following his arrest and involvement in a fatal car crash that claimed the life of Kenneth Mosher.

The 35-year-old Bachelor star told In Touch, “My family and I are overwhelmed with this tragedy, but we are sticking together and we’ll get through it. Thank you for reaching out.”

Chris was allegedly driving a truck when he crashed into the tractor driven by the victim.

He then reportedly called 911 and checked Mosher‘s pulse before leaving the scene on foot.

He was arrested a few hours later at his home in Iowa. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death.

Chris Soules‘ ex fiancee Whitney Bischoff is speaking out after he was arrested for fleeing the scene of a deadly car crash.

Chris proposed to the 31-year-old fertility nurse on the 2015 season of The Bachelor, but the pair split just two months after the finale aired.

“This is a very sad situation,” Whitney told People magazine. “I’m keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers, especially the victim and his family.”

If you didn’t read earlier in the day, it was revealed that Chris sent a tractor trailer flying into a ditch, which caused the death of Mr. Mosher, and then fled the scene of the crime. He was arrested and held in police custody.

Chris Soules has released a statement (via his lawyer), obtained by Just Jared directly.

“Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers and with Mr. Mosher’s family,” attorneys Sean Spellman and Molly Spellman of West Des Moines, Iowa said in the statement.
