Amy Schumer Joins Sen. Schumer to Fight Gun Violence

Amy Schumer stands beside Senator Chuck Schumer, her second cousin once removed, while speaking at a press conference on Monday morning (August 3) in New York City.

The Trainwreck actress helped announce a three-part legislative gun control plan after a man killed two people at a screening of her movie nearly two weeks ago.

“These shootings have got to stop,” she said. “I don’t know how else to say it. These are not extreme ideas. No one wants to live in a country where a felon, the mentally ill or other dangerous people can get their hands on a gun with such ease.”

“These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence, but I promise you they will not be my last,” Amy added.
