Giannina Gibelli and Damien Powers had many ups and downs during the first season of Love is Blind and it shocked many fans to find out that they were back together at the reunion special.

Even Lauren Speed, who married Cameron Hamilton, was surprised too.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1’s The Reality Tea Podcast, Lauren shared that she wished “the best for them…To me, I’m going to be honest, [them getting back together] was a little shocking, especially how their wedding ended.”

She added, “If they are pushing forward in their relationship then I honestly wish them the best. But I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not surprised, because I am surprised.”

Giannina recently opened up about how she and Damian reconciled after the show was over.

The stars of Netflix’s Love Is Blind stop by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing on Tuesday (March 10)!

The three couples, who are still together today – Amber Pike and Matt Barnett, Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton, Damian Powers and Giannina Gibelli – reveal to Ellen what led them to appear on the hit reality dating show in the first place.

“I chose to do it because basically my dating life wasn’t going that well and I was like, well, let’s see what happens,” Lauren Speed, who is still happily married to husband Cameron Hamilton, says. “And a year and a half later, here I am with this awesome man.”

“I honestly only chose to do it because I was out of work at the time and I was going stir crazy because I was workman’s comp so I couldn’t leave. I couldn’t do anything,” Amber explains. “I was like, find love? This could be interesting — why not? And I ended up with a whole husband.”

“For me it was very cosmic,” Giannina adds. “I was at a bar with a group of girlfriends and I was telling them how there are no men for me in the city and at that moment I got a DM on Instagram and it was this person telling me, hey you can fall in love and potentially get married. I was like, this is the universe speaking to me.”

If you have watched the Love Is Blind reunion special, then you know that Damian Powers and Giannina Gibelli are back together!

The couple got engaged on the Netflix dating series, but during their wedding on the season finale, Damian broke up with Giannina on the alter.

Now, they’re opening up about what happened after the wedding and how they became a couple again!

“After everything went down, I reached out to him because I just wanted to see where we stand. Can we be friends? What happened? Like let’s have a conversation where we’re not riled up and we’re just talking as normal people,” Giannina told E!’s Daily Pop. “And then we just talked it out, and we understood where the other person was coming from, ’cause there were so many beautiful moments, and that’s the reason why we’re still together now. We just snuck back into our apartment. He snuck us back in, and we like held each other and healed, and we haven’t been apart since.”

“If I could go back that day and take away that pain from her, 100% I would, but the decision was important for us to have a healthy relationship outside of there, to be best friends first,” Damian added. “Marriage comes with so many things, from oh, we’re going to have children, we’re going to move in together, bills are combined, your whole world flips upside down, holidays split now, so all these things in the back of your mind register with it, right? And she’s a free spirit, she doesn’t like to be locked down, and it was so tight-framed that I felt in that moment I was doing what was best for us, and I felt like she was doing what was best for us too.”

“The engagements were completely up to us, but if we got engaged, we had to show up to the altar,” he added. “And we had to go through the vows, you had to go through everything. But it wasn’t, honestly, until that moment… if you heard me, I was like ‘I do…not.’ And it because I wanted to say ‘I do’ so bad. It literally was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Those tears were real, and when I rewatch it, I still get like really emotional. It’s still very hard, because I don’t want any woman to ever have to experience that, so it was heartbreaking, but our relationship is healthier than ever.”

Giannina is positive about the outcome and said, “Everything happens for a reason.”

Another couple on the show just revealed something surprising that we didn’t see happen on the show.

The cast of Love Is Blind has reunited to celebrate the finale of their hit Netflix series!

Many of the show’s stars stepped out for a VIP viewing party held at City Winery on Thursday night (February 27) in Atlanta, Ga. If you didn’t know, the series was filmed there and most of the contestants are based in the city.

Married couples Cameron Hamilton & Lauren Speed and Matt Barnett and Amber Pike were both there and they appeared to still be happily together!

Damian Powers and Giannina Gibelli, who broke up at their wedding on the finale, posed for photos together and it looks like they patched things up.

Kelly Chase went solo at the event without ex Kenny Barnes.

Also in attendance were Carlton Morton and Diamond Jackson, who broke up early on in the season after he revealed to her that he used to date both women and men.
