Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish are teaming up to tell some tales – and they’ve got someone very exciting involved!

The 40-year-old and 59-year-old Outlander co-stars revealed more exciting details regarding their upcoming book, Clanlands, on Friday (August 7).

Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander series, will be writing the foreword!

Here’s a description, via Amazon: “A road trip book with a difference. If you didn’t know, they also announced an accompanying Starz series called Men in Kilts. This new show is especially good news for Outlander fans after what we found out about season six.

The latest episode of Outlander featured a sex scene between Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) that was not well received by some fans, as well as the author of the original books, Diana Gabaldon.

The scene was a love scene in a stable and the author responded to a fan who seemed unhappy with the scene.

Diana responded, “Bad dialogue, bad direction, bad lighting, awkward set. Actors did their level best with what they were given to work with.”

She also clarified, “I thought the acting was really good–and both the earlier leadup to and the reconciliation after were both very good; the dialogue leading up to the actual sex and the staging of said sex left something to be desired.”

Then, when fans wondered if Diana hated the entire episode, she clarified she did not, she just did not enjoy that one, 45-second scene!

“Would y’all pay attention? (not meaning just you personally) I was referring explicitly to one 45-second scene, NOT the episode,” she added.

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are together again for the season five premiere of Outlander!

The stars walked the red carpet together for the season five premiere on Thursday evening (February 13) at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Fellow cast members at the premiere included Duncan Lacroix, Ed Speleers, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Lotte Verbeek, David Berry, Lauren Lyle, Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, and Yan Tual.

Outlander author Diana Gabaldon and executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Matthew B. Roberts were also in attendance.

During the premiere, it was revealed that the season five premiere has been released early – and you can watch it on the Starz app right now!

Outlander author Diana Gabaldon is responding to some comments made by Starz Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Hirsch regarding female viewership of the series.

“Outlander — you can say that it’s great because women like it because she’s a surgeon who goes back in time, but there’s also another side of that, which is there’s some eye candy for that audience and people like when [star Sam Heughan] has his shirt off,” Hirsch said. “You have to be really thoughtful about when you’re looking at a piece of content and whether it’s really going to be female or not. And it’s not easy.”

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe star in the Starz series together. The show follows their gripping love story as Jamie and Claire.

A few months ago, Just Jared ran a poll asking fans who they wanted as the next James Bond, and Outlander star Sam Heughan won the poll!

Diana Gabaldon, who wrote the Outlander novels, is totally on board with the idea of Sam playing the super-spy once Daniel Craig is done.

“I have seen that Sam is being tipped for James Bond and I think it would be great,” Diana told the Scotsman.

“Sam would do a fine job of it. There is always a lot of talk every time James Bond changes so it’s anybody’s guess. But I don’t think he would have to leave Outlander to be James Bond because the Bond movies are just that, they’re movies,” he added.

“Outlander is a television show so it would just be a matter of scheduling,” Diana continued.

Sam then responded on Twitter to Diana‘s kind words!

The Outlander co-stars were joined by fellow castmate Lotte Verbeek at the event. Earlier in the day, they were joined by series creator Diana Gabaldon at a panel at the 2016 Winter TCA Tour.

The series is nominated at the Golden Globes for Best Television Series – Drama and Caitriona is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama.

Sam and Caitriona were interviewed together that day and shot down rumors that they’re a real-life couple.

“We’re not together,” Caitriona told E! News. “It’s funny. We’ve always said from the get go that we’re incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it’s great that we’re able to get along that well. We’re not together. I’m sorry to break people’s hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together.”

“No, I think it’s strange, isn’t it?” Sam said about their fans’ hope that they’ll date in real life. “Because I think people buy into the show and us saying it’s not real, they feel like they’ve been duped. It’s like, ‘You acted it. You lied to us!’ And I’m like, ‘Well, sorry!’”

Caitriona Balfe rocks a black jumpsuit at the 2015 PaleyFest presentation for her hit show Outlander held at the Dolby Theatre on Thursday evening (March 12) in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-stars Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, author/ writer of the series Diana Gabaldon, and executive producer/writer Ronald D. Moore.
