Scott Baio Clarifies Comments on Erin Moran's Death & Drug Use

Scott Baio is clarifying his comments about Erin Moran‘s death after it was revealed she likely died of cancer, not drugs.

During a radio interview with The Bernie & Sid Show, the 56-year-old actor said of his former Happy Days co-star, “For me, you do drugs or drink, you’re gonna die. I’m sorry if that’s cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive and you gotta take care of yourself.”

Now, Scott is firing back at the backlash and explaining why he said what he said.

Happy Days' Erin Moran's Cause of Death Revealed

Erin Moran, beloved actress who starred as Joanie Cunningham on the hit TV show Happy Days, passed away at the age of 56 years old, likely from cancer.

“A joint investigation into Mrs. Moran’s death was conducted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Harrison County Coroner’s Office. A subsequent autopsy revealed that Mrs. Moran likely succumbed to complications of stage 4 cancer,” Sheriff Rod Seelye told Fox News. The type of cancer was not indicated.

No narcotics were found in her residence, but the toxicology results are still pending. Erin was found dead at her home in New Salisbury, Indiana on Saturday (April 22).

Scott Baio Remembers Late Co-Star & Ex-Girlfriend Erin Moran

Scott Baio has taken to social media to remember his late Happy Days co-star Erin Moran.

“May people remember Erin for her contagious smile, warm heart, and animal loving soul,” Scott wrote on his Facebook account. “I always hoped she could find peace in her life. God has you now, Erin.”

Scott and Erin worked together when they starred as Charles “Chachi” Arcola and Joanie Cunningham on the 70s sitcom, later reprising their roles in the spin-off Joanie Loves Chachi.

He later revealed that they dated too.

Erin was found dead in her home this weekend. The cause of death is still unknown.

Celebs are speaking out to pay tribute to Erin Moran, whose untimely death was reported on Saturday (April 22).

The actress, best known for her role as Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days and then on Joanie Loves Chachi, passed away at the age of 56 of unknown causes.

Ron Howard, who played Erin‘s older brother Richie Cunningham in Happy Days, and Henry Winkler, who played Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on the same show both took to Twitter to remember their late friend.

Don Most (Ralph Malph in Happy Days) and Erin‘s Gunsmoke co-star Willie Aames also paid their respects.

Erin Moran, who is best known for her role as Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days, has died, TMZ reports. She was 56-years-old.

Erin rose to stardom playing Ron Howard‘s younger sister on the hit 1970s comedy before continuing the role alongside Scott Baio in the show Joanie Loves Chachi.

After her hit shows ended, Erin struggled with drinking causing her to run out of money and end up at a trailer park before her husband Scott Fleishmann kicked her out.

No word yet on how Erin passed away.
