YouTuber Desmond 'Etika' Amofah's Cause of Death Released

Desmond “Etika” Amofah, a popular gaming YouTuber, passed away on Monday (June 24) and his cause of death has been revealed.

The 29-year-old Internet personality’s cause of death has been ruled as “drowning in the manner of suicide” as per the medical examiner’s report (via E! News).

Etika‘s body was found in the East River near the South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan.

Etika was reported as missing over the weekend and his belongings were found by the Manhattan Bridge, which connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

YouTuber Desmond 'Etika' Amofah Dead at 29

Desmond “Etika” Amofah, a popular gaming YouTuber, has been found dead at the age of 29, the New York Police Department has confirmed.

Over the weekend, the NYPD Twitter account posted, “Have you seen Desmond Amofah aka Etika? He was last heard from June 19 at about 8PM by phone. He is 29 years old, approx 6 feet tall, and 160 lbs. He is a known @YouTube blogger and has many people concerned after a recent video. Call @NYPDTips anonymously with info 800-577-TIPS.”

One hour ago on Tuesday (June 25), the account updated, “We regret to inform that Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found deceased.”


Detective Sophia Mason, the DCPI Spokesperson, shared a statement as well, saying, “On Monday, June 24, 2019 at approximately 1818 hours, police responded to a 911 call for a person floating in the waters in the vicinity of South Street Seaport in the confines of the 1st Precinct. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive, unidentified male at the location.”

YouTuber Etika Goes Missing, Belongings Found on Manhattan Bridge

Desmond “Etika” Amofah, a popular gaming YouTuber, has gone missing.

The 29-year-old YouTuber has been missing since Wednesday (June 19), according to the police.

Personal items, including a backpack and a phone believed to belong to Etika, were recovered on the Manhattan Bridge in New York City, according to CNN on Sunday (June 23).

In a recent video, he appeared to express suicidal thoughts, prompting his fans to be concerned. The video has since been taken down, but has been reuploaded by other users on YouTube.

His disappearance is still under investigation, and the police are asking for help in trying to find him.
