Alan Ritchson is currently working on the Jack Reacher television series, in which he’s playing the title role, and his body is in such good shape for it!

The 38-year-old actor posed for a shirtless photo in the gym after an early morning workout. He shared the photo to his Instagram account on Friday (June 4).

“Got home from work at 5am. Bursitis in shoulder. Torn oblique… Sneeze and I’ll die. Still got the run and workout in. Just have to get a little creative with it sometimes. No excuses. You got this. Get up right now. Let’s go!” he captioned the pic.

Alan Ritchson has landed the title role in the upcoming Jack Reacher television series, which is being made at Amazon.

The drama series will be based on the character from the Lee Child book series, which was turned into two movies starring Tom Cruise.

There was some backlash over Tom‘s casting in the films as the character is described as being 6’5″-tall and weighing between 210 and 250 pounds. The “imposing” character is a US Army veteran investigating suspicious activities that frequently put him in danger.

Tom is only 5’7″-tall in real life, while Alan fits the physical description of the character at 6’4″ and 235 pounds, according to Deadline.

The first season of the Jack Reacher series will be based on the first novel, “The Killing Floor.” It will be written and executive produced by Nick Santora, who previously worked on the CBS series Scorpion and the recent Quibi shows Most Dangerous Game and The Fugitive.

Alan is best known for his work in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the cult series Blue Mountain State, and the recent DC Universe series Titans.

A television series based on the Jack Reacher novels is being developed by Amazon for the Prime Video platform!

Tom Cruise starred in two film adaptations of the Lee Child novels, but he will not be involved in the television project. Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and directed the first movie, will be an executive producer on the series, according to THR.

Scorpion creator Nick Santora will be adapting the novels for the series. The books follow “a military veteran who lives a nomadic life as a freelance investigator and problem-solver.”

Tom Cruise apparently didn’t have the stature to continue playing Jack Reacher in the franchise movies, this according to British author Lee Child, who created the character.

“Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality,” Lee told the BBC during an interview. “I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun…But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is.”

Lee continued, “The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality….So what I’ve decided to do is – there won’t be any more movies with Tom Cruise. Instead we’re going to take it to Netflix or something like that. Long form streaming television, with a completely new actor.”

“And I want all those readers who were upset about Tom Cruise to help me out – participate in choosing the right actor for the TV series. We’re rebooting and starting over and we’re going to try and find the perfect guy,” he added.

Tom played the role in two Jack Reacher movies: one in 2012 and a sequel in 2016.

Tyler Perry‘s Boo! A Madea Halloween debuted to a whopping $27.6 million, making it the No. 1 movie this weekend!

According to THR, the film is Tyler‘s “best showing in six years as a director.”

Coming in second was Tom Cruise‘s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, which earned $23 million in its first outing.

Taking the third spot was the new horror flick Ouija: Origin of Evil, starring Elizabeth Reaser and Annalise Basso, taking in $14.1 million.

Rounding out the top five were The Accountant and The Girl on the Train, which brought in $14 million and $7.2 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, the star-studded new comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses made $5.6 million.

At the specialty box office Naomie Harris‘ new film Moonlight grossed $414,740 from four theaters in Los Angeles and New York, for a location average of $103,685.
