Ray Rice Publicly Apologizes to His Wife Janay After Domestic Violence Attack (Video)

Ray Rice appeared on the Today show today with his wife Janay Rice by his side to explain his domestic violence attack against her earlier this year.

“I made a horrendous mistake not apologizing to my wife,” the 27-year-old former NFL running back said during the interview. “This is something, you know, as a man you have to own. I’m horribly sorry for everything that I have to put my family through.”

“I think it was her … trying to take light off the situation,” Ray added about hearing his wife take some responsibility for the incident in her own personal interview the day before. “I appreciated it, but that’s not what the big deal is. The big deal is for me to always protect her, and that’s why I said I take full responsibility.”

Ray hopes to help those who are victims of domestic violence. “Domestic violence is a real issue in society. We could take our one bad night, it just happened to be on video, but we are truly sorry to the people that are really going through it. It’s a real problem. And I know when the time is right, I know my wife wants to help, I know I want to help.”

Janay Rice Tells All About the Ray Rice Domestic Violence Assault, Says She 'Did Something Wrong Too'

Janay Rice, the wife of football player Ray Rice who was involved in a domestic violence situation when her husband beat her up in an elevator earlier this year, sat down with the Today show’s Matt Lauer to give an interview on her side of the events.

“I was furious,” Janay said after the domestic violence event took place. “We came home and we didn’t talk the entire ride. He tried to talk to me. I didn’t want to hear any of it. I just knew he hit me, and I was done. I just didn’t even want to entertain it. Any explanation.”

Janay then explained that she had a change of heart: “I was ready to do anything that was going to help the situation. They suggested [I apologize]. [I wanted to] help the way we looked in the media, help his image, help”obviously”his career, so they told us earlier that week we would do the press conference and I was fine with it.”

Janay, who was also joined by her mom Candy for the interview, went on to say she was also in the wrong. “That was frustrating for me because obviously people took it as I’m taking light off of what Ray did, in no way. I was basically not doing what I was told, but at the same time I didn’t think it was completely wrong for me to apologize because at the end of the day I got arrested, too. So I did something wrong, too.”

Both Janay and Candy have told Ray, “there is no next time, and we’ve already made that clear.”

Ray Rice Video Was Sent to NFL in April, AP Source Confirms

The shocking video that shows Ray Rice beating his then-fiancee Janay Palmer in a hotel elevator was reportedly sent to the NFL back in April, a source has confirmed to the Associated Press.

A law enforcement official played a 12-second voice mail for the AP which was sent on April 9 from an NFL office phone number. In the message, a female employee of the NFL confirms the video was received and says, “You’re right. It’s terrible.”

The NFL has repeatedly said that the organization never received the video after trying to obtain it earlier this year.

“We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said.

Ray was initially suspended for two games following the incident in February, but after the video surfaced this week, he was cut from the Baltimore Ravens roster and suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

“I have to be strong with my wife. She is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for (Janay) and my family right now and work through this,” the 27-year-old former Baltimore Ravens player told ESPN.

Janay also talked to the network, saying “I love my husband. I support him. I want people to respect our privacy in this family matter.”

Ray Rice's Wife Janay Blames the Media for 'Horrible Nightmare'

Ray Rice‘s wife Janay has taken to her Instagram account to blast the media for making her relive one of the darkest moments of her life, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Video surfaced this week of Ray beating Janay in a hotel elevator earlier in the year. He has now been cut from the Baltimore Ravens roster after the video was seen by his team.

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself,” Janay said. “No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.”

“THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!” Janay concluded.

Video of NFL Player Ray Rice Knocking Out Wife Janay Palmer Outrages Public

New video has surfaced of Baltimore Ravens football player Ray Rice knocking out his wife (then fiancee) Janay Palmer in an elevator back in February at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ, which has sparked much controversy regarding his penalty from the NFL.

The video displays Ray, 27, punch Janay before she punches back. He then knocks her out, and drags her out of the elevator.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell only gave Ray a two game suspension back in July, which has caused an outcry from the public. Roger admitted he “didn’t get it right” (via CBS News).

An NFL spokesperson told TMZ in a statement, “We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today.”

Ray and Janay got married one month after the attack.

The video of Ray and Janay‘s fight is available on TMZ, but is very violent.
