Julie Benko is currently the alternate for Lea Michele in Broadway’s Funny Girl and she performs the role of Fanny Brice every Thursday night.

Broadway's Next Fanny Brice: Who Should Replace Beanie Feldstein in 'Funny Girl'? Vote in Our Poll!

It was just announced that Beanie Feldstein will be leaving the Broadway production of Funny Girl in September and her replacement will be named on a later date.

Beanie is the first actress to originate the role in a Broadway production since Barbra Streisand opened the original staging in 1964.

Now, Beanie will be handing off the role to a new actress and we’re trying to figure out who might be next!

The logical choice right now is Julie Benko, who is currently serving as Beanie‘s standby and has been performing the role for the past week during her COVID-19 absence. There’s also Lea Michele, who was long-rumored to lead a Broadway production of Funny Girl after performing many of the songs on Glee.
