Lil Nas X Gets Real About Clapping Back at Trolls In 'Entertainment Weekly's Pride Issue

Lil Nas X goes shirtless on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly.

The 22-year-old musician shares the Pride issue with MJ Rodriguez, Lena Waithe and Bowen Yang, and all four opened up about their trailblazing careers.

In Lil Nas X‘s feature, he opened up about his actions on social media prior to getting his big break.

“When I first got famous, I would block everybody,” he shared, recalling the trolls who flooded (and continue to flood) his mentions. “But now it’s like, okay, cool. For me, I would rather somebody hate the s*** out of me when they’re talking about me rather than not say anything at all, because that’s giving more power to my name.”

Now, he has the mentality of clapping back at the naysayers when they come out.

“I’m very much a chaotic, good person,” he added. “I almost never want to start shooting at somebody who didn’t bring it to my doorstep, you know? But I kind of live for when somebody tries to get me and I’m ready to throw it back at them tenfold. Do I feel bad about it sometimes? Every now and then, but I feel less bad knowing that I didn’t start it. I try to never throw stones, but if somebody throws one at me, I’m throwing an entire house.”

Anya Taylor-Joy & Keegan-Michael Key Set to Host SNL with Musical Guests Lil Nas X & Olivia Rodrigo!

Anya Taylor-Joy and Keegan-Michael Key are both making their Saturday Night Live debuts!

The show’s official Twitter announced the news on Monday (May 3).

Keegan-Michael Key is set to host first on May 15 and will be joined by “Driver’s License” singer Olivia Rodrigo as the musical guest.

Anya will then host the show’s season finale on May 22, with Lil Nas X set to perform.

Lil Nas retweeted the announcement and added that he’d be performing a new song alongside his hit single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, while Olivia shared the news on Instagram and captioned the post with a series of crying emojis.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Elon Musk would be hosting this Saturday’s episode (May 8) and fans have been very vocal with their outrage over the decision.

Lil Nas X Answers a Kid's Question About Coming Out of the Closet

Lil Nas X is addressing coming out to a young audience.

The 22-year-old “Old Town Road” superstar visited Arts & Raps on Wednesday (April 14) to spend time with Zaria and Dilian, the two children who host the show and interview stars as they work on art.

During the interview, Lil Nas X was asked by the kid hosts what coming out was all about.

“It means you’re like, ‘Hey everybody, I’m this thing, and you guys didn’t even know that, but now you know,” he said.

Amusingly, Dilan reacted with a story that also involved a literal closet.

“Me and my older cousin, he keeps pushing my brother into the closet. And we close the door and blink the lights on and off, and then say ‘666’ or ‘Bloody Mary.’ And then he swore he saw something,” he said.

“That’s exactly what happened to me. That’s exactly what I meant when I said I was coming out of the closet,” Lil Nas X hilariously responded.

Zaria asked what being “unapologetically you” meant.

“It means just doing yourself at all costs, no matter who’s watching. It gets really hard, because everybody in the world, we always think about what everybody else is thinking about us. Sometimes, we forget to think about what we think about ourselves, you know?” he said.

“I won’t say that I don’t care. It’s like, I’m able to care and push it off of my shoulder.”

Lil Nas X also made headlines for making out with another male star in a new music video.
