UK Prime Minister Liz Truss Quits After 45 Days in Office

The Prime Minister of the UK Liz Truss, who was only just voted in on September 6, 2022, has just resigned.

She only served for 45 days, which would mark the shortest term ever for any UK Prime Minister. A new election will be held next week.

On Thursday (October 20), Truss confirmed she had spoken to King Charles and notified him that she would be resigning.

Fans Notice Something in Background of King Charles' Room in Buckingham Palace

Eagle-eyed fans noticed something in the background of a room in Buckingham Palace while King Charles had a meeting with Prime Minister Liz Truss.

The meeting took place on Wednesday (October 12) and was the first weekly meeting between the pair. If you don’t know, the late Queen Elizabeth used to hold weekly meetings with every sitting Prime Minister to discuss government matters. It appears as if King Charles plans to do the same.

During the first meeting, there were reporters and cameras and fans noticed a very tiny, barely-visible photo in the background.

Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau & Other World Leaders Attend Queen Elizabeth's Funeral

President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth on Monday (September 19) in London, England.

The couples arrived to the funeral, which was held in Westminster Abbey, wearing all black. Other world leaders including Liz Truss (the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom) and French President Emanuel Macron were in attendance. Liz was seen with several former prime ministers including Tony Blair and John Major. Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who Liz replaced, also came to the funeral.

President Biden was photographed paying his respects to the Queen the day before the funeral. He released a lengthy statement honoring the Queen after her death.

In case you missed it, Catherine, Princess of Wales (aka Kate Middleton) wore two special pieces of jewelry to the funeral. She was accompanied by Prince William, Prince of Wale, and her two oldest children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Liz Truss Wins UK PM Election; Will Become Britain's Third Female Prime Minister

Liz Truss will be the next UK Prime Minister.

The news was announced on Monday (September 5), as she defeated Rishi Sunak to become the third woman to hold the office, according to Deadline.

Parliament revealed the news of Liz‘ victory, and her tenure will start tomorrow, September 6, as Boris Johnson will officially leave his post.

Previously, Boris resigned his role as British PM after multiple scandals.

Liz, who is the former Foreign Secretary and International Trade Secretary, won with 57% or 81,000 of the Conservative Party member base voting her in compared to 60,000 for Rishi.

In her speech after accepting her victory, Liz said it has been a “hardening campaign” during which the “depth and breadth of Conservative Party talent” was shown, while she also thanked “my friend Boris Johnson.”

“I campaigned as a Conservative and will govern as a Conservative,” she added. “We need to show we will deliver, bold plan to cut taxes and grow our economy.”

Liz will be the third female UK PM , following in the footsteps of Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.
