Christine Baranski, Denee Benton, Louisa Jacobson & More Step Out For 'Gilded Age' Screening

Christine Baranski rocks a sharp suit for The Gilded Age special screening held at The Whitby Hotel in New York City on Tuesday (May 24).

The 70-year-old actress met up with her co-stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denee Benton, Louisa Jacobson and Cynthia Nixon, and series showrunner/creator Julian Fellowes.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight recently, Cynthia and Christine opened up about being part of the period drama and learning from it as they work.

“[It's] such a fascinating part of history, and New York history in particular,” Cynthia shared. “It’s a period that has so much in common with our own and I think it’s a period that people don’t know that much about.”

Christine added that they “learn a lot about history.”

“We’re so lucky as we say to be part of this world that [Julian] creates,” she continued, noting that everyone “not only enjoyed the stories,” but they all “loved the costumes and the sets and entertaining that fairy-tale world where manners were very strict and formal.””

Season two of the HBO series just started filming. See which stars are confirmed to return here!

Christine Baranski Celebrates Her 70th Birthday at Met Gala 2022!

Christine Baranski is celebrating her 70th birthday at the 2022 Met Gala!

The actress, who currently stars in HBO Max’s The Gilded Age, attended fashion’s big event on her birthday, Monday (May 2), at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

For the event, Christine sported a black tuxedo-inspired dress paired with oversized black sunglasses.

Also stepping out for the Met Gala were Christine‘s The Gilded Age co-stars Louisa Jacobson – in a sheer black and gold dress – and Denee Benton, who wore a pink and red, silk dress.

The dress code for the event is “Gilded Glamour” and it’s inspired by the Costume Institute’s exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion. Guests are asked to “embody the grandeur—and perhaps the dichotomy—of Gilded Age New York,” a period that stretched from 1870 to 1890. The official co-chairs this year are Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

FYI: Christine is wearing a Thom Browne outfit. Louisa is wearing a Schiaparelli dress while carrying a Tyler Ellis clutch. Denee is wearing Jimmy Choo heels.

There Was a 'Schitt's Creek' Reunion at the Broadway Opening of 'The Minutes'

Schitt’s Creek stars Dan Levy and Noah Reid reunited this weekend!

Dan showed up to support Noah at the opening night performance of his Broadway play The Minutes on Sunday (April 17) at Studio 54 in New York City.

The guys met up backstage following the performance!

The Minutes was written by Tracy Letts and his wife Carrie Coon was in the crowd alongside several co-stars from her HBO series The Gilded Age. In attendance were Morgan Spector and his wife Rebecca Hall, Louisa Jacobson, and Ben Ahlers.

More stars who attended the event included new dad Darren Criss, Take Me Out co-stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Patrick J. Adams, and Company star Katrina Lenk.

The Minutes, the record-breaking hit production from Steppenwolf Theatre Company, takes a hard look at the inner workings of a city council meeting and the hypocrisy, greed and ambition that bubble to the surface when a newcomer to the small town of Big Cherry starts to ask the wrong questions. Why is someone on the council mysteriously missing? What happened to all those bicycles? Is there skullduggery afoot with the city’s finances? What’s the deal with the available parking space? What the F is going on with the Lincoln Smackdown? And why are the minutes from the last meeting being kept secret?

The new play is running through July 24.

The Gilded Age's Louisa Jacobson Makes L.A. Stage Debut in 'Trayf' at the Geffen

Louisa Jacobson is making a name for herself on the new HBO series The Gilded Age and she’s also currently starring in a play in L.A.

The 30-year-old actress, who is the youngest daughter of Meryl Streep, is a recent graduate of the Yale School of Drama where she received her M.F.A. in acting.

EW notes that Louisa is “heartbreaking in her single scene” in Trayf, which just opened at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.

Here is the play’s synopsis: “Zalmy lives a double life. By day, he drives a Chabad “Mitzvah Tank” through 1990s New York City, performing good deeds with his best friend Shmuel. By night, he sneaks out of his orthodox community to roller-skate and listen to rock and roll. But when a curious outsider offers him unfettered access to the secular world, is it worth jeopardizing everything he’s ever known?”

Also starring in the play are Ilan Eskenazi, Ben Hirschhorn, and Garrett Young. The play is running now through April 10!

Louisa was recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live and mentioned the play, as well as the interesting job she had before acting.

The Gilded Age's Louisa Jacobson Reveals the Interesting Job She Had Before Acting!

Louisa Jacobson just made her talk show debut!

The 30-year-old actress, who plays Marian Brook in The Gilded Age, made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday (March 3) in Hollywood.

Louisa is currently performing in a play called Trayf at the Geffen Playhouse and she took a break from preview performances to chat with Jimmy.

During the interview, Louisa talked about the jobs she had before becoming an actress. One of them was working at an ad agency and that led to her becoming a cruise ship spy.

One of the clients was a health and wellness spa with several locations, including some on cruise ships. While her co-workers got to visit the flagship locations on land, Louisa was sent to “spy” on the location on a cruise ship!

“They had me go on this Celebrity cruise. I was on the cruise for about three days. We went from New Jersey to Bermuda. I was alone on a cruise, which is a strange thing,” Louisa said. “You pay for the room as two people. So it was a weird thing. I also couldn’t tell anyone why I was there. I was like a secret agent spy, advertising agent.”

The Gilded Age airs on Monday nights on HBO!

'Downton Abbey' Creator's Next Period Drama, 'Gilded Age,' Gets Star-Studded Trailer - Watch Now!

Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is back with a brand new period piece: The Gilded Age! The debut trailer for the HBO drama just debuted online, along with some first look pics.

The new series stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denée Benton, Louisa Jacobson, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, Jack Gilpin, Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski.

Here’s the logline for the show: The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, of great conflict between the old ways and brand new systems, and of huge fortunes made and lost. Against the backdrop of this transformation, HBO’s The Gilded Age begins in 1882 with young Marian Brook (Jacobson) moving from rural Pennsylvania to New York City after the death of her father to live with her thoroughly old money aunts Agnes van Rhijn (Baranski) and Ada Brook (Nixon). Accompanied by Peggy Scott (Benton), an aspiring writer seeking a fresh start, Marian inadvertently becomes enmeshed in a social war between one of her aunts, a scion of the old money set, and her stupendously rich neighbors, a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George (Spector) and Bertha Russell (Coon). Exposed to a world on the brink of the modern age, will Marian follow the established rules of society, or forge her own path?

The new show comes from creator/writer/executive producer, Julian Fellowes; executive producer, Gareth Neame; director/executive producer, Michael Engler; executive producer, David Crockett; director/executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield; and writer/co-executive producer Sonja Warfield.

The show debuts on January 24, 2022.
