Once Upon a Time in Wonderland has unfortunately been canceled by ABC after just one season on the air.

While it is upsetting that we won’t get another season of the show, it was originally envisioned as a miniseries to bridge the gap between seasons of the main Once Upon a Time series, according to THR.

The fantasy series aired in ABC’s very troubled 8pm slot on Thursday nights where a new series has not been successful since Ugly Betty vacated the time slot back in 2009.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland starred Sophie Lowe, Michael Socha, Emma Rigby, Peter Gadiot, and Naveen Andrews. We sure can’t wait to find out what they will be up to next!

Malin Akerman, Rebel Wilson, and Sophie Lowe hit the red carpet at the Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour Disney/ABC party held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (August 4) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Malin, 35, was joined by her Trophy Wife co-stars Michaela Watkins and Natalie Morales, while Sophie, 23, was accompanied by her Once Upon a Time in Wonderland co-stars Peter Gadiot, Emma Rigby, Naveen Andrews, and Michael Socha.

Also pictured: The cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker.

That same day, Rebel Wilson and Conan O’Brien attended the Super Fun Night panel, while Sophie Lowe, Peter Gadiot, Emma Rigby, Naveen Andrews, and Michael Socha attended the Once Upon a Time in Wonderland event.

“The purpose of the show, to me, is to really inspire girls who don’t think they’re cool, or popular or pretty and all that, to get out there and [prove] that they can have fun and exciting lives, too,” Rebel said. “I think in order to do that, we have to present a very realistic version of what it’s like to be girl who looks like me and isn’t the coolest.”

Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas hit the red carpet at the 2013 Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con Celebration held at Float at the Hard Rock Hotel on Saturday evening (July 20) in San Diego, Calif.

The on-and-off-screen couple was joined by Once Upon a Time co-stars Emilie de Ravin and Lana Parrilla at the event.

The stars of spin-off series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland were also in attendance, including Sophie Lowe, Peter Gadiot, Emma Rigby, Michael Socha, and Naveen Andrews.

Peter Gadiot, Emma Rigby, Sophie Lowe, Naveen Andrews, and Michael Socha walk down the press line for the Once Upon a Time in Wonderland panel held during 2013 Comic-Con on Saturday (July 20) at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in San Diego, Calif.

It was announced during the panel that Naveen was joining the show as the villain Jafar.

It was revealed that the mission of the series will be to “to tell within this first season, a complete, close-ended story. By the end of the Season 1, this particular story will be concluded,” co-creator Adam Horowitz said (via TV Line).
