Legendary director Mike Nichols has passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday evening (November 19).
The 83-year-old award winning director – who was married to news anchor Diane Sawyer for 26 years, directed such projects on the stage, screen, and television as The Graduate, Working Girl, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolff, Closer, Charlie Wilson’s War, Annie, Spamalot, The Birdcage, and Angels in America. He was one of the very few people in the world to EGOT.
Mike was recently working with a frequent collaborator Meryl Streep, who said of him, there’s “no explanation of our world could be complete and no account or image of it so rich, if we didn’t have you.”
Mike leaves behind Diane, as well as three children, Daisy, Max and Jenny, and four grandchildren.
No cause of death was released at this time.
