'Nightcrawler' & 'Ouija' Tie For Top Spot at Halloween Weekend Box Office!

Looks like it’s a tie between Nightcrawler and Ouija for the top spot at the weekend box office!

Both movies brought in an estimated $10.9 million this Halloween weekend, and final numbers to determine the actual winner will be calculated later this week, Variety reports.

The Jake Gyllenaal thriller, which was in it’s opening weekend, and Ouija’s tie marked the lowest-grossing number one at the box office since the first weekend in September when Guardians of the Galaxy brought in $10.4 million.

Coming in at number three was Brad Pitt‘s Fury, which brought in $9.1 million.

Rounding out the top five is Gone Girl and The Book of Life, which brought in $8.8 and $8.3 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth‘s Before I Go to Sleep did not do well at the box office, bringing in $2 million from 1,935 theaters. This is the worse opening weekend for a film for both Nicole and Colin.

Jake Gyllenhaal Exits 'Into the Woods' for 'Nightcrawler'

Jake Gyllenhaal has dropped out of the highly anticipated movie musical Into the Woods in order to focus on his upcoming project Nightcrawler, according to The Wrap.

The 32-year-old actor was in negotiations to play Rapunzel’s Prince in the fairytale film, but scheduling conflicts have forced him to take his name out of the running.

In Nightcrawler, Jake will play “a small-time Los Angeles criminal who gets a little too swept up in the nocturnal world of the city’s crime journalism community.”
