The Trailer for Netflix's 'Passing' Puts the Star-Studded Cast on Display - Watch Now!

The trailer for Passing is finally here!

Adapted from the celebrated 1929 novel of the same name by Nella Larsen, Passing tells the story of two Black women, Irene Redfield (Tessa Thompson) and Clare Kendry (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga), who can “pass” as white but choose to live on opposite sides of the color line during the height of the Harlem Renaissance in late 1920s New York. After a chance encounter reunites the former childhood friends one summer afternoon, Irene reluctantly allows Clare into her home, where she ingratiates herself to Irene’s husband (André Holland) and family, and soon her larger social circle as well. As their lives become more deeply intertwined, Irene finds her once-steady existence upended by Clare, and PASSING becomes a riveting examination of obsession, repression and the lies people tell themselves and others to protect their carefully constructed realities.

Alexander Skarsgard, Bill Camp, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy also star.

The film hits select theaters on October 27 and will debut on Netflix on November 10.

Rebecca Hall's Star-Studded Directorial Debut 'Passing' Goes to Netflix in Big Sundance Deal

Big news for Rebecca Hall!

It has been reported that Netflix is nearing a $16 million deal to buy the 38-year-old actress’ directorial debut movie Passing, according to Deadline.

The movie, which stars Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga, made headlines as one of the best movies to premiere during the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Here’s the synopsis for Passing: “Set amid the Harlem Renaissance, Irene (Thompson) and Clare (Negga) are two mixed race women, and childhood friends, who reunite in their adulthood, discovering that they now live on two different sides of the color line, with Clare ‘passing’ as white. As the two women’s lives become more intertwined, the narrative turns inward, giving a look into the complicated nature of racial identity and how we’re all are impacted by how the world sees us.”

André Holland, Alexander Skarsgård and Bill Camp also star in Passing, which is based on the 1929 novella written by Nella Larsen.

As of right now, Passing does not have a release date.
