Celine Dion has shared an emotional video featuring great memories with her late husband Rene Angelil to mark the first anniversary of his death.
“Today, January 14th, it’s been a year since René left us. He will always be in our hearts,” the singer’s team captioned the video on her Facebook account.
The video shows moments including the couple’s three sons – Rene-Charles, 15, and six-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy – as well as memories of them meeting such dignitaries as Nelson Mandela and the Pope.

The singer took to Instagram to share a memory from the holidays before getting back to work on her Vegas residency. Celine is resuming performances for the new year on Tuesday (January 17).
“Holiday memories! Now time to get back to work!” she captioned the image, which features her and her three kids – Rene-Charles, 15, and six-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy – sitting in front of their Christmas tree.
“To try to perform that song without collapsing was big enough and then I turned around and I saw my son. As a mother, I really, through this whole process of our new life, wanted to be strong,” Celine told Entertainment Tonight. “I thought I was going to make it through the whole night without tears and show strength, and love won,” she said. “I just collapsed. I’m very thankful for the award and proud of my family so much.”
“You have to be strong, but I think it’s important as well to not hold everything,” Celine added. “I tried to hold it in front of my 5-year-old twins, but my 15-and-a-half year old beautiful son is old enough to understand. Even though I did not want to cry, he understands it’s okay because it is therapeutic and you can’t take so much pressure. You can take so much strength and weight on your shoulders, but sometimes you can’t control everything.”
“I’m not the first woman and I’m not the last one who will lose her husband,” she continued. “It’s hard, but my family is helping me through it. I hope I think people know that I don’t do music, I don’t do my passion and sing to win an award. It’s never been the number one goal. It’s to share moments with fans and the celebration of music itself.”

The 48-year-old singer was presented with the Icon Award by her son and she got emotional with him standing by her side.
“I’m so sorry for crying. I want to be so strong for my family and my kids and I didn’t expect that. I don’t want to cry in front of you. You make me so happy,” Celine said to her son. She then asked him to stand next to her and he said, “sure, yeah!”
Celine Dion is reaching out to her fans to thank them for their support following her late husband Rene Angelil‘s funeral last week.
“My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days. We have felt your love for René, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most difficult time… more than you’ll ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” the 47-year-old singer wrote in a statement on her website.
“I would also like to sincerely thank the Quebec Government for honoring René with National Funerals as well as the many individuals and organizations who came together to hold such a beautiful tribute in his name,” Celine added. “We will never forget all of the kindness that you have bestowed upon us.”
