The Devil Wears Prada is being turned into a Broadway musical and the lead roles have been cast!

Tony winner Beth Leavel will be playing the role of Miranda Priestly, which was originated by Meryl Streep in the movie. She is best known for her roles in the Broadway musicals The Drowsy Chaperone, The Prom, Bandstand, and Mamma Mia.

Coincidentally, Meryl is playing Beth‘s role in the movie version of The Prom, which is currently being filmed. They also played the same role in Mamma Mia!

Taylor Iman Jones, best known for her work in the Broadway musical Head Over Heels, will take on Anne Hathaway‘s role of Andy Saks.

The musical will have its world premiere in Chicago in the summer of 2021 before going to Broadway after that. The show was originally supposed to premiere in the summer of 2020.

“We realized that we wanted more time to work on the show. Our creative team members are in demand around the world with ridiculous schedules. The new dates mean that not only do we get an ideal theatre in Chicago (the CIBC Theatre), it also allows our New York landlord to confirm the Broadway venue, which means we have more time to coordinate our physical design, marketing, and sales plans accordingly,” producer Kevin McCollum said in a statement.
