Ansel Elgort traveled to Japan this week for events to celebrate his new HBO Max series Tokyo Vice!
The 28-year-old actor joined his co-star Ken Watanabe for a screening and press conference on Tuesday (April 5) in Tokyo, Japan.
An intimate screening and reception were held in honor of the show at The Peninsula Hotel Tokyo. Also in attendance at the events were cast members Sho Kasamatsu, Hideaki Itô, Tomohisa Yamashita, and Rinko Kikuchi, as well as the inspiration of the series Jake Adelstein, creator/writer JT Rogers, and executive producer Alan Poul.
Tokyo Vice is new series loosely inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s nonfiction, a firsthand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat. The crime drama, filmed on location in Tokyo, captures Adelstein’s (Elgort) daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo in the late ‘90s, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem.
The first three episodes of Tokyo Vice are now streaming on HBO Max. The series is a co-production with WOWOW, Japan’s leading premium pay TV broadcaster. (日本の皆さん、TOKYO VICEはWOWOWで見てねー)
